The Black CSCS Card is the highest level of Construction NVQ related CSCS Card. The CSCS Black Card is for Managers' occupations and requires achievement of Level 4 or above in a relevant NVQ or SVQ.
It is essential to achieve a Black Managers CSCS Card if you want to pursue your career opportunities at the highest levels. The NVQ standard is applied to all trades in the building industry: if you want to work as a Manager in your field then you will need the Black CSCS Card as proof that you are extremely competent and experienced in the sector of your choice.
The CSCS Black Card for Managers is increasingly being required as positive proof of occupational competence, experience and skill by prospective employers. It is essential in order to ensure that the maximum career opportunities open up for you.
Your Black CSCS Card will show a current photograph of you; your full name; and your registration number. It will also include a CSCS Smart Card Chip, which will be loaded with all the relevant information about your qualifications, status, experience and personal details. The Smart Card Chip can be read on site using a CSCS Smart Card Reader.
The Black CSCS Smart Card is used to ensure that you are who you say you are. The information contained on the Chip proves that you have achieved the correct Level of Construction NVQ and possess all the skills and experience required by the industry to fulfil a Managers' role.

To qualify for a Black CSCS Card you must have an NVQ of at least Level 4. If you have already passed your Construction NVQ to Level 4, you will need to pass the CSCS Managers and Professional Health, Safety & Environment Test. Construction Support Line can book your MAP CSCS Health and Safety Tes. You can sit your test in as little as 48 hours after the date of your booking request.
The Black CSCS Card for Managers is valid for five years. If you lose your CSCS Black Card, or come to the end of your five year period, Construction Support Line can arrange a new one for you.
