White CISRS Card - Basic Access Systems Erector (BASE)

What is a White (Basic Access Systems Erector) CISRS Card?

The White CISRS BASE card is intended for non-operative workers on a construction site who will nonetheless be erecting, dismantling or altering very simple scaffolds and access structures. The types of scaffolding that can be erected by a White card holder are very limited.

A White CISRS Card grants access to carded areas of a worksite to these scaffolding-related labourers, and ensures that anyone erecting or manipulating scaffolding has the basic safety training necessary to do so safely.

What qualifications will I need?

To gain a White CISRS Card certification, you’ll need to have already passed the CSCS Health, Safety and Environment test, or have evidence that you are exempt from this requirement (such as holding either a CCNSG Passport to Safety, Current Offshore Survival Card, FAS Safe Pass, NEBOSH Construction certificate, or and SSSTS or SMSTS taken within 2 years of application)

You will also need a valid 5 day CISRS Basic Access System Erector certificate, which remains valid for one year once issued.

Lastly, if this is your first White CISRS BASE Card rather than a renewal, you will need your employer’s endorsement.

How long is the certification valid?

The White CISRS (BASE) Card is valid for five years and can be renewed.

What is the next step?

Those labourers who wish to advance their careers after earning their White card might wish to seek further certification with their Red (Trainee) card, which could lead to certification to work on more advanced types of scaffolding.
