Job Description

Dry Liners are responsible for building internal walls in structures using plasterboard panelling.

Raised flooring, suspended ceilings, and partitions which can be removed are also jobs dry liners can be expected to complete.

Required Skills

  • Competent arithmetic skills to calculate surface areas and angles

Working Hours

40

Dry liners work a normal 40 hour week, with evenings or weekends likely to be required depending on the type of contract you are fulfilling.

Suspended Ceilings

Install suspended ceilings that conceal wiring, heating or air conditioning and pipework.

Floor Coverings

Install or maintain/repair strips, blocks, or sheets of decorative, sound-deadening or shock-absorbing to floors.

Roof Coverings

Provide thermal insulation or create a decorative, sound-deadening or shock absorbing ceiling with the above methods.

Doors and Shutters

Install insulated doors and partitions for offices and commercial environments.

Curtain Walling

Create non-structural outer covering for buildings made from glass, metal panels, fabric and stone veneer and other materials.

Required PPE

Sturdy shoes with a protective toe box and non-slip soles

Hard hat

Respirators

Protective goggles/visor

Gloves

High-vis jacket

Required Tools

Dry lining filling knife

Fills all holes, dents and cracked patches on a wall, roof or floor surface. Advisable to have a selection of different sizes for different jobs.

Scrapers

Suitable for removing excess joining glue - serves a double function by being useful in the application of joint filler. Wise to have a selection as above.

Pneumatic gun

Ideal for stapling or nailing boards to timber stud.

Electric screwdriver

Helps to secure boards into place. Useful for precise and efficient work - a normal screwdriver set will be too slow.

Sandpaper

Smooth off your work and the filler used in joints with this simple accessory.
