Equality and Diversity Policy

Policy Statement

Construction Support Line appreciates the contribution that all colleagues make in ensuring our ongoing success. At Construction Support Line we recognise that all colleagues are unique and that they draw on their different views, perspectives and experiences which add value to the way we do business. By accessing, recruiting and developing colleagues from many different backgrounds, we gain insight into different opportunities and services required by our customers.

Construction Support Line constantly strives to create a productive environment, representative of and responsive to different cultures and groups, where everyone has equal chance to succeed. This policy is intended to complement the company wide Equality and Diversity policy which is available separately.

1. Introduction

1.1 Construction Support Line is committed to providing equality of opportunity for all throughout the delivery of courses and assessment leading to the completion of all qualifications, units and courses. This commitment is irrespective of gender, race, ethnicity, disability, age, sexuality, religion or belief, or marital or civil partnership status.

1.2 Construction Support Line is committed to ensuring that all staff and service users are treated fairly and equally, in order to help and encourage them to reach their full potential through training and development.

1.3 This policy complies with current Great Britain and Northern Ireland legislation. It is reviewed regularly to ensure that any changes to current legislation are reflected in the policy.

1.4 If Construction Support Line is delivering courses in another country, due consideration is given to any geographical variations in, or additional, equality and diversity legislative requirements.

1.5 Due to the nature of the qualifications and courses delivered by Construction Support Line (with training courses of between one and five days’ duration), equality and diversity monitoring is required to be an ‘active’ process that is concurrent with the delivery of the training. For example, it may not be possible to address issues of access or reasonable adjustment requirements until the staff and service users arrives on the day of training.

1.6 As a registered centre with several Awarding Bodies, Construction Support Line complies with the procedures and standards of all the Accreditation schemes, which is updated annually. This includes arrangements for access, assessment of training needs, reasonable adjustment and special consideration.

1.7 Construction Support Line monitors the commitment to equality and diversity through regular audit.

2. Staff and Service Users

2.1 It is the responsibility of Construction Support Line to make all staff and service users aware of the commitment to and implementation of equal opportunities through the provision of the Trainers Charter and the centre's equality and diversity policy.

2.2 Staff and service users are invited to contact Construction Support Line at any time about any issues relating to equal opportunities, in order that it can take action to address any perceived inequalities.

2.3 Construction Support Line encourages staff and service users to provide certain details for equality and diversity monitoring, which is collected on evaluation forms and returned to the administration office.

2.4 Construction Support Line also encourages all staff and service users to provide feedback to the centre and on their learning experience, by responding to a questionnaire issued at the end of each course, with specific reference to their experience of access and equality of opportunity.

3. Monitoring of compliance with equality and diversity

3.1 All feedback, both formal and informal, from staff and service users , employers, clients or other interested parties, is reviewed by Construction Support Line. If any changes to the centre’s policies or procedures are considered necessary to maintain compliance, these are actioned as soon as possible.

4. Breach of the policy

4.1 Any breaches of this Equality and Diversity policy will be treated as a disciplinary matter and offenders will be dealt with under the Construction Support Line Disciplinary and Investigation policy.
