JIB Card Online Application

The JIB Card

The JIB Card is a CSCS Card affiliate scheme for the Plumbing industry. The Card provides accredited proof that any member of the Plumbing, Heating and Mechanical Engineering Services trades has reached the level of competence, experience and health and safety awareness required for the role he or she wishes to fill.

How the JIB Card Works

Your JIB Card will show a current photograph of you; your full name; the expiry date of the Card; and the registration number that JIB has assigned to you. This number is linked to the Plumbing NVQ or other relevant Construction NVQ you have achieved, as well as to records of your CSCS Health, Safety & Environment Test pass. In cases where you are required by your specific PHMES trade to pass a JIB Health, Safety & Environment Test, the number will be linked to that too.

How to Get a JIB Card

In order to qualify for the correct JIB Card, you will need to pass your Plumbing NVQ at the required level. You will also need to pass the JIB Test. Construction Support Line can book your JIB Test for as little as 48 hours after the date you have applied to book, and can help you with your JIB Card application.

How long is my JIB Card valid for? How do I renew my JIB Card?

Most JIB Cards are valid for five years and may be renewed on application. Trainee JIB Cards are valid for five years or until the holder is eligible for a Blue JIB Card. Construction Support Line can help you apply for renewals or replacements for lost JIB Cards.

JIB Card Guide

Skilled JIB Cards
Plumbers, Heating Fitters and Mechanical Pipefitters may hold a Blue JIB Card or a Gold JIB Card, which relate to the relevant Construction NVQ Levels 2 or 3.
Red JIB Card
A Plumbing Apprentice/Trainee Red JIB Card is designed to be held by PHMES workers who are in training. Once Construction NVQ Level 2 has been achieved, the Red Trainee Card is exchanged for a Blue JIB Card - and later for a Gold Card (on completion of NVQ Level 3).
Green JIB Card
A Green JIB Card denotes a PHMES Site Worker - a person who has basic site skills only. The relevant CSCS Health, Safety & Environment Test must be passed. The Gold Supervisor's JIB Card is equivalent to NVQ Level 4 and may be held by a person in a supervisory role.
Platinum JIB Card
The Platinum Manager's JIB Card is available to managerial roles where the card applicant holds a relevant Construction NVQ Level 5. The CSCS MAP (Managerial and Professional) Health, Safety & Environment Test must be passed.
Yellow JIB Card
here is also a Yellow Site Visitor's JIB Card, which requires a basic Health, Safety & Environment Test pass. The Site Visitor's Card is for non trade persons who visit building sites in a PHMES related capacity.
