What is a Blue (Heating Fitter) JIB Card?

The Blue (Heating Fitter) JIB card is intended for fully qualified heating system fitters who have the training, experience and Health and Safety certifications necessary to work as a heating fitter on a construction site or other carded area.

What qualifications will I need?

To gain a Blue (Heating Fitter) JIB Card certification, you’ll need to have achieved a Level 2 NVQ of a heating and/or ventilation type, or a heating and ventilating-related City and Guilds certificate.

Accepted qualifications include (but are not limited to):

  • Heating & Ventilating (Domestic) (6008)

  • Heating and Ventilating (Domestic) (6018)

  • Heating & Ventilating (Domestic) (6088)

  • Heating & Ventilating (Domestic-Installation) (6088)

  • Heating & Ventilating (6188)

  • BPEC NVQ in Domestic Heating

  • EAL NVQ in Domestic Heating

  • C&G Level 2 6189-21 NVQ Diploma in Installing and Maintaining Domestic Heating Systems

  • City & Guilds Craft Certificate in Domestic Heating and Ventilating

  • City & Guilds Craft Certificate in Heating & Ventilating Engineering Fitting (618-1)

  • City & Guilds Craft Certificate in Heating & Ventilating Fitting (597-1)

  • City & Guilds Craft Certificate in Heating & Ventilating Fitting (604-1)

This is not an extensive list – you may be eligible for this card if you hold similar qualifications.

How long is the card valid?

The Blue (Heating Fitter) JIB Card is valid for five years and can be renewed.

What is the next step?

Those operatives who wish to move on from their Blue (Heating Fitting) JIB card will want to seek their Gold (Heating Fitting) JIB card.
