Job Description

Plumbers are responsible for installing or repairing piping systems, plumbing fixtures and equipment such as water heaters and backflow preventers. Being a plumber is a job that is unlikely to ever be outdated due to the fundamental need for clean water and sanitary collection and transport of wastes.

As a result, this can be a rewarding job financially, where you can set your own rates and assert yourself in a competitive marketplace.

Working Hours

Many plumbers work standard hours (9-5), although there are individual plumbers and companies that remain on call 24-7. For working outside of accepted working hours you will be able to charge more for your services, especially during the holidays.

Another must for any set of plumbing tools. An adjustable wrench can among other uses be utilised for helping fit different widths of piping, adjusting to different hex bolt sizes with ease.

Allen Wrench Set

You are likely to come across certain fittings that are secured by Allen Key, so it is always a good idea to carry a set of these inexpensive tools.

Hacksaw

For when nothing else will do the job, a good hacksaw will see to any plumbing that is just too difficult to dismantle with your other tools.
