Job Description

Structural engineers design buildings, bridges, towers and tunnels. Some work as consultants to architects, helping implement structural systems that make preliminary drawings a reality.

Structural engineers can be involved in the demolition of old buildings. A structural engineer will always inspect buildings both during and after construction to ensure they are compliant with their procedures

Structural engineering design is primarily office-based work, and therefore usually requires standard working hours (9am-5pm), though these can vary as site work is often necessary early on in projects.

This job requires individuals who can design and maintain structures to withstand seismic activity such as earthquakes and tremors.

As a humanitarian engineer, you will contribute to disaster relief work where buildings and infrastructure have been destroyed.

Conservation and Restoration

Preserve historic materials and construction methods while recognising the often conflicting objectives of conservation and modern development.
