What is a CSCS card?
CSCS stands for Construction Skills Certification Scheme. The CSCS Card serves as proof of competence in the industry and will provide the contractor with information regarding your Health, Safety & Environment Test results as well as any qualifications you have in your occupation.
There are various cards available under CSCS as well as its affiliate schemes, so whatever you do and whatever qualifications you have, there will definitely be a CSCS Card for you.
How can I get a CSCS Card?
If you are applying for the first time, you will need to book and pass the CSCS Health, Safety & Environment Test before you can get a CSCS card.
If you have already passed this test you can apply for a CSCS card with our easy to fill out online booking system at the top of this page.
How long is a CSCS card valid for?
It varies between card types, but most of the CSCS cards are valid for 5 years.

How long will it take to receive a CSCS Card?
The CSCS card is sent to you within 30 working days after we receive your completed application form. The application form is sent via 1st Class Royal Mail Recorded Delivery, so it is with you in 2-3 working days.
The application form will arrive with instructions, and it will be partially pre-filled, so it is easier for you to complete the rest.
CSCS Card Types
This card is available for labourers who have passed the CSCS Test, and have one of the following:
- Site Safety Plus: Health and Safety Awareness Course (1 day only)
- Level 1 Award in Health and Safety in a Construction Environment (1-5 days)
- IOSH Working Safely Course (1 day)
This card is for trainees who are registered for an NVQ/SVQ L2 or L3 or for whose who have achieved a non NVQ/SVQ Diploma and have passed the Health, Safety and Environmental Test.
This card is for trainees who are registered for an NVQ/SVQ L3 or higher in supervisory or managerial occupations, who are working towards a degree or have completed SSSTS/SMSTS course and have passed the Health, Safety and Environmental test.
This card is for Supervisors or Managers with on site experience currently achieving an NVQ/SVQ. A valid Health, Safety and Environmental test is necessary to apply for this card.
This card is valid for 1 year and is a temporary card for people with on site experience who are currently achieving an NVQ/SVQ L2 or L3 and have passed the Health, Safety and Environmental test.
This is a temporary card, valid for 6 months only, for people who are very new on construction sites or do a temporary job. This card requires a valid Health, Safety and Environmental test and can not be renewed or reapplied.
This card is a temporary card for people who are achieving a recognized apprenticeship and have passed Health, Safety and Environmental test.
This card is available to everyone holding NVQ/SVQ L2 qualification or to whose who have City & Guilds Craft certificate and have a valid Health, Safety and Environmental test.
This card is available to NVQ L3 or City & Guilds Indentured Advanced Craft certificate holders who also have a valid Health, Safety and Environmental test.
This card is for qualified supervisors who have achieved NVQ/SVQ L3 in Supervisory trade and have passed Health, Safety and Environmental test.
To be eligible for this card people need to have NVQ/SVQ L4 or above and to pass Health, Safety and Environmental test for Managers and Professionals.
In order to get this card the applicant needs to be a full member of a CSCS recognized professional body and to pass the Health, Safety and Environmental test for Managers and Professionals.
This card is available to people who have completed a degree or have achieved HNC, HND related to construction. This card requires Health, Safety and Environmental test for Managers and Professionals.
This card is available for people working in construction related occupations (Cleaners, Fire Engineers, Locksmiths, Security Guards etc.) A valid Health, Safety and Environmental test is also needed.
This card is for people who visit construction site occasionally and do not do any physical work while on site. This card is valid for 5 years and only requires a valid Health, Safety and Environmental test for Operatives.
